Mardi Gras ELA & Math

Mardi Gras ELA & Math

Hi All,
It's Mardi Gras Time!  Believe it or not we do a week long unit on Mardi Gras here.  We include masks, beads, and 2nd line umbrellas in our dramatic play centers.  We have King Cake for snack everyday, and to culminate, we have a school wide Mardi Gras parade complete with a King, Queen, Court and rebellers!  They throw beads and candy.  It's lot's of fun.  Mardi Gras is a BIG DEAL in New Orleans.  Anyway, I got a request from one of my coworkers for the items that are included in the Mardi Gras ELA & Math Unit & I just knew that everyone could use them.  Here are pictures of a few of the items from the unit:
"Where is the Mardi Gras Mask" Position Words Mini Posters
Pair Positions Posters with real objects for hands on practice.
More Position Words Items:
Felt Board Pieces & Memory Matching Cards
Seriating Cards
Patterning Mat & Pattern Pieces

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

Hi All,
I just finished making a "Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss" Unit.  It was lots of fun to make and I know that it's going to be fun for the kids.  This unit is all about rhyming words and silly nonsense words!  Remember the "10 tired turtles on a tuttle tuttle tree?"  Well, I made some "tuttle tuttle tree" rhyming word families.  I'm going to have my students sort the trees into the correct pot!  I'm sure they're going to enjoy it.
I'm also expecting the "Where's Cat?" game to be a big hit.  I've used it before so my kids are familiar with how to play.  They like it on a regular day but I suspect that the silly nonsense words in the Dr. Seuss version will cause a serious case of the giggles.
This unit is jam packed with rhyming and nonsense word fun in classic Dr. Seuss fashion.  I hope you like it as much as I do.

      Thanks for stopping by,
       Asia
