Mardi Gras Lesson Plan

Mardi Gras Lesson Plan

Hi!
Just popping in to share with you what I plan on doing with my little ones in community for next week!  The theme is Mardi Gras!  We will be reading Johnette Downing's, 'Who Got the Baby in the King Cake.'

We will practice letter recognition using a Mardi Gras themed Power Point.  Since I'm itinerant; I'll be using an Ipad instead of a smart board.  If you choose to use this on an Ipad, make sure that you have the Power Point app installed so that you can get the transitions and the music:

We will also practice phonics by matching letters to initial sounds:

My students range in levels so here are my math activities.  Some of my students will practice color matching:
We will sort Mardi Gras beads by color:
We will practice sorting Big & Little:
Finally, we will practice counting out 1-20 objects; in this case, king cake babies!  If you are interested in using king cake babies I found them at Walmart and Party City on the party isle with the baby shower stuff:

For our craft; we are going to decorate a Mardi Gras mask using sequins and feathers:

Here are the FREE lesson plans:

Thanks for taking the time to read my post!  And thanks for stopping by!
