Fish Themed Lesson Plan

Fish Themed Lesson Plan

Hi There!,

We are off this week for Mardi Gras but I know that everyone else is still 'Celebrating Literacy'.  So this week I decided to share a few ideas for Dr. Seuss' 'One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish.'

In keeping with my picture schedule; I made these Red Fish Blue Fish themed Letter to Initial Sound File Folder Games:

I also figured to continue practicing C-V-C words with this Fox and Sock C-V-C Words Center:

For the math portion of my schedule; I like these Fish Chip Clip Cards which coordinate with the clips on the chip isle from Walmart.  Kids can get in a little fine motor exercise as well as color matching/recognition with this activity:

My students LOVE anything with FOOD!  So I made these Rainbow Goldfish Snack Cracker 10 Frames which feature the numbers 1-20.  Even though we're off this week; I'm going to definitely use  these when we do our ocean unit later on in the year:

I've included a coloring page and labels in this lesson plan download in case anyone cared to use them for treats during Read Across America Week.

Well, that's all for now!  Thanks for taking the time to read my post and thanks for stopping by!  If you enjoy this type of post; please consider subscribing to my blog!  Click on any of the photos to check out that item in my TpT store.

Here's this weeks lesson plan:

Thanks again, and have an AWESOME week!

March Lesson Plan

March Lesson Plan

Hi!
I am just popping in to share with you what I'll be doing with my kids in community this week!  This week we'll be reading 'Put Me in the Zoo' by Robert Lopshire.  We'll be doing a little letter recognition and phonics practice with these Jaguar ABC & 123 Clip Cards:

My higher students will practice C-V-C words by reading Hop on Pop by Dr. Seuss.  For follow-up practice I made them this C-V-C center where they have to give each fox four socks:

For math, we will do a little color matching with this Jaguar Color Matching File Folder Game:
We will also practice counting out 1-20 objects using these 1-20 Jaguar 10 Frames.  I found these transparent multi-colored bingo chips for counters on Amazon:

For the craft, I'm keeping it SUPER simple.  I made them a jaguar which says, "Today We Read 'Put Me in the Zoo' by Robert Lopshire."  We will use different color bingo markers to put spots on the jaguar:
I always give my students a sticker or treat at the end of each session.  They don't always coordinate with my theme but when they do, I make a label???  I found these hard candies at Dollar Tree which reminded me of the spots from the story so I made labels, printed them on card stock, and stapled a candy to each label:
That's it!  I hope that you enjoyed!  Thanks so much for taking the time to read my post and download my lesson plan!  If you enjoyed this please subscribe.  My goal is to post at least once per week (fingers crossed) =0)

Thanks for stopping by!  Here's the lesson plan:

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

Hi All,
I just finished making a "Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss" Unit.  It was lots of fun to make and I know that it's going to be fun for the kids.  This unit is all about rhyming words and silly nonsense words!  Remember the "10 tired turtles on a tuttle tuttle tree?"  Well, I made some "tuttle tuttle tree" rhyming word families.  I'm going to have my students sort the trees into the correct pot!  I'm sure they're going to enjoy it.
I'm also expecting the "Where's Cat?" game to be a big hit.  I've used it before so my kids are familiar with how to play.  They like it on a regular day but I suspect that the silly nonsense words in the Dr. Seuss version will cause a serious case of the giggles.
This unit is jam packed with rhyming and nonsense word fun in classic Dr. Seuss fashion.  I hope you like it as much as I do.

      Thanks for stopping by,
       Asia
