March Wind Lesson Plan

Hi!  I'm just popping in to share what we will be doing in community next week!  We will be reading 'The Wind Blew' by Pat Hutchins and learning about March Wind.

I made these story pieces for my students to follow along with.  I plan to ask them to point to each item as we encounter it in the story.  Once they find the item I will ask them to blow the item with the straw to make it move like the wind made it move in the story.  For my higher students we will also use these pieces for retelling and story sequencing:
For the letters portion; we will review the letter K with some Initial Sounds Picture to Picture matching:

For my students who can; they will practice reading my March Wind Blows Emergent Reader

For the math portion of our hour; we will practice color matching with this kite themed color matching file folder game:

Continuing with the kite theme; we will practice sorting big and little:
Some of my students will count out 1-10 objects (the cubes that I plan to use as counters are at school):
For my students who can; they will practice counting 1-20 objects:
For the craft I gathered construction paper (cut in half long ways); crepe paper; tape; a hole punch; and curly gift ribbon to make this wind sock to continue our wind theme:
Well, that's all for today!  I hope you enjoyed it!  Thanks so much for taking the time to read my post and thanks for stopping by!  Click on any of the photos to visit the resource in my store.  Here is the FREE Lesson Plan:
